It is given in FAQ section of State Bank of India Site that Legal Heir Certificate need not be insisted from the widow of a customer of a Savings Bank account who has not nominated anybody and do not hold the account as joint a/c. Based on other acceptable proofs the case can be decided. Inspite of this one of the Manager of SBI insisits the production of Legal Heir Certificate. Is it correct. If so then SBI itself has waived the Legal Heir Certificate and publish it in FAQ section.
